Screensaver Activates During Music Visualization
#1
Though I have checked System/Interface/Screensaver 'use visualization if playing audio', it dims over my music visualization after the screensaver timeout period.  Tried Estuary & Aeon Silvo.  Tried screensaver dim, black, and Picture Slideshow.  Each dims my visualization after 1 min.  If I turn off screensavers, works normally.

Tried public 19.1 and today's nightly. Log.

Screensaver dimming still happing over music visualization despite settings, and now on 19.3.0.  What's even odder is my screensaver is set to Screensaver Picture Slideshow, not dimming, but if I change it to Dim still does it.  If I change Screensaver to Black, it goes black over my music visualization.   Tried Aeon Nox and Estuary skins.

Basically, the setting "Use visualization if playing audio" is not working.

I can't believe this is still going on for well over a year.  Does no one use Kodi for music anymore?  Having it dim during music visualization despite the switch set not to, makes the music module useless to me.

let me guess youre still using kodi  19.3?

without changing things how can you expect things to change?

btw none of those logs are Debug Log

Are you saying this is the Windows 7 thing? I'm on the latest Nexus v20.

nah i dont have nearly enough information to determine it is or isnt a windows thing

i was pointing out your operating system hasnt changed since October 22nd 2009 and youre talking about things "still" being broken after a year so maybe if you want something to change then you should change something

debug is still not enabled in that new log...
"Disabled debug logging due to GUI setting. Level 0."

I'm still on Win7 because my mobo doesn't provide Win10 drivers, and aside from this issue, things work.  Are you saying you don't have this dimming issue during music viz with a screensaver selected?

Turned Debug Log on:

Still dealing with this issue of the screensaver dim activating while music is playing.  Now on Win10x64 Pro and Nexus 20.2.  I even went as far as to do fresh installs of 19.4 and 17.6 just to see how far back this goes. Still does it.

Oddly I switched the screensaver to Picture Slideshow but it still just dims during music, not displaying pictures.

Have you turned on 'Disable screensaver when playing audio'?

Are you referring to Settings/Interface/Screensaver/ "Use visualisation if playing audio"? That is ticked on.

Looks like it's been changed recently then as it's no worded differently on a nightly build. I did test 19.3.0 but the visualiser started instead of the screensaver for me.

So technically I don't want to see the visualization, just all the artist/song info.  I just press 'tab' when the music starts to see it.  Then after the screensaver timeout period the screen dims.  Though I'm using Estuary skin as I sort out this problem but also tried Aeon NOX with same result.  Is there some code needed in a skin's musicvisualization.xml that tells Kodi not to activate a screensaver?

In other words, what I want is all the artist info to stay on screen during music playback and not dim or the Picture Slideshow screensaver to activate.

EDIT: I might have figured this out.  Using Aeon Nox, installed Waveform visualization, and in music visualization settings selected to hide visualization (Waveform) behind Artist Slideshow fanart.

Use the Dim screensaver but set its Brightness level to 100%.

That's genius. I didn't even think about doing that.👍

Turn on Expert mode in the settings and you will see Settings>Interface>Screensaver>Disable screen saver when playing audio
