Problems with Digitally Imported playlists
#1
Hello all,

I'm a customer of Digitally Imported, and I download playlists from them to listen to with Kodi. I also combine the playlists from di.fm, Radiotunes and co as M3U, which I also listen to in Kodi. However, since a few months there are problems, when I select various channels, they are skipped - I sometimes need several attempts until I can hear the desired channel. Is this a problem with Kodi or with DI.fm? I have already contacted DI, they can't understand the problem. Does anyone have similar experiences?

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

I'm no digital guru by any means but this is/was perhaps a temporary hiccup?

This URL opens and the music plays when I place it in a web browser. So the link works.

Ok, but for the fact that it's temporary, it's been happening for quite a long time. In the VLC player the problem appears less often - and in the browser never. I can send you my PLS file, then you can try it directly in Kodi.

Try the dedicated DI.fm Addon

The functionality of DI.fm has been integrated into another Addon called "AudioAddict". I believe the original addon has been abandoned. The "AudioAddict" addon seems to also have suffered a similar fate (currently), and thus only works on Kodi 18.x. However, check page 5 of THIS thread, for a version that has been updated by a community member to work with Kodi 19.x. Use your existing DI login details as you would of done with the original addon. These credentials also work for the other channels / stations this addon provides.

yes sensational, such an addon is great - much better than my playlists, because especially the thumbnails are included. I just tested it - unfortunately the problem still occurs. But I will continue to use the addon.

Can anyone tell from the logs if the problem is with Kodi or DI.fm?

From the log it would appear that the issue is with DI.  However, there were some changes in 19.1 as to how Kodi handles caching. For some (as yet unknown reason), the change has adversely affected Airplay and the spotify addon.  It's possible that it also affects DI.  If you have a read of https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache and set it to use mode 0 (the old default).  Restart Kodi and see if that helps.

Please provide feedback either way as I'm keen to figure out why that change breaks/fixes some audio streams.

Thanks.

This may not apply in this case, but I have had issues initiating streamed content in Kodi after a CTD where content was being streamed at the time of the crash. The cause being (in as far as I can tell) corruption of the commoncache.db (<userdata>\cache\commoncache.db) file. It's also prevented successful startups of Kodi after a crash / CTD of Kodi during an active stream. The CTD may not have been caused by the stream itself, but if it occurs, problems can result. I've found that simply deleting the commoncache.db file and re-launching Kodi solves it for me. As I say, probably not the root cause of your problems atwk, but should you find yourself in this scenario, doing as I suggested above will get things running again.

In regards DI.fm and the AudioAddict addon, there does seem to be a noticeable delay after selecting the service, and the channel list loading, and I have had streams suddenly quit for no apparent reason. Don't seem to have the same issue with the HDHomeRun DVR addon or Youtube addons aside from a weird "socket access error" that gets displayed by the youtube addon if it was used in a previous session. And all of these addons are affected by video caching settings. Not had enough of an issue at this stage to warrant additional investigation at this point, but will keep an eye on things from now on.

Glad you like the addon atwk.
