So I finally found what I did to make 19 work (after upgrading from 18) to see my mapped network folders:
"You can try by opening gpedit -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Lanman Workstation -> Enable Insecure Guest Logons -> click Enable."
That's still enabled, but I can no longer access my mapped network folders.
Yeah, this really sucks. As mentioned in the edit to my previous post, the inexplicable fix for this was actually just reopening the group policy editor after each reinstall of Kodi — which then allows Kodi to see my mapped network drives again ... even though the above setting never reverted. Weird!
I guess this post can be deleted now. Apologies.
