You sir, are amazing!

Any chance we could see Dolby Vision/HDR10+ any time in the near future? Some of the originals (like Handmaid’s Tale) offer it.

Great job, you did it again!
I've been trying since version 0.01, and I didn't expect you to solve the VOD layout problem so quickly.

By the way, there are problems with external subtitles (same as HBO Max\Paramount Plus), can you please add the subtitle allow list function?

I think it depends on when Hulu brings HDR support to the Android TV platform.

Well, HDR is available on the Fire TV platform, which uses an Android based OS (often the same apps as the Android TV platform) so it’s clearly coming. Hulu must be locking out HDR purposely for Android TV devices.

@QianyuLi
Are you Kodi 18?
Pretty sure Hulu is English subs only

@Wagg
I could only grab the device number for Android tv.
If I knew the Roku or apple, or FireTV ones, I could probably get HDR going

I have a Fire Stick 4k, how do I get the device number?

PM sent.

Can you save the APK, upload somewhere and send me the link?

And also can you confirm on that using the Hulu app you do get HDR?

Yup, Hulu on fire stick 4k definitely outputs HDR+ and Dolby Vision. As for the apk I’ll do that a little later.

I use Kodi 19.2, and Hulu offers Spanish subtitles in addition to English.

There are no problems with external subtitles on single English subtitle content, but external subtitles on multilingual subtitle (English and Spanish) content do not work properly. I think this can be solved by ignoring all subtitles or showing only English subtitles.

I also found that you can't pause during playback, and if you pause for a longer period of time (I'm not sure, maybe a minute) the video freezes after playing again (Kodi stops responding if you click stop playing), and even without pausing there seems to be a chance of that problem. I have not encountered the problem with other add-ons. Can anyone else confirm?

On the content that has issues, if you look at the progress bar, does it have a heap of chapter markers?

Hulu uses dash periods to mark out ads. Which seems to cause some issues with inputstream adaptive. I was surprised they even played at all.

As for the subtitle settings, I was thinking about making them global settings (in slyguy common) so they would be applied across all my addons. It means I don't need to add the same settings to each addon. Can you see any reason a per-addon setting (like currently) would be preferred? I assume someone who just wants x subs on one addon would want the same on all my addons

The progress bar for issues content doesn't have chapter markers, and I noticed on Paramount Plus that you can jump chapters via bookmarks. But Hulu doesn't.
Hulu Original The Handmaid's Tale, including Spanish subtitles, external subtitles will automatically change to Spanish and will not work after switching. This problem is similar to HBO Max and Paramount Plus. I have tested that ignoring subtitles can workaround.
I think there is convenience in the global caption settings, but there also seems to be more flexibility in the plugin standalone settings. It would be better to use the global settings by default while allowing plugins to set them independently.

just pushed 0.1.6
this adds those usual subtitle / audio settings

Can you advise what content that has issues when you pause it?
So I can test

Nice work, by the way I tested if only English subtitles are allowed. The original multi-subtitle content would still be a problem. All subtitles must be ignored.
Did you change anything in version 0.16? I'm testing now that pausing doesn't cause playback problems, but in 0.15 I also had problems with playback stalling.
I think more observation and testing is needed. I can't completely rule out if the network is the cause. But I don't think it should make Kodi completely unresponsive even if it is due to the network.

Nothing changed related to playback.

Still not sure about your subtitle issues with all the addons.
Is it due to you using external subs?

I was able to pull the APK from my fire stick, can also confirm HDR works for me through Hulu on the fire stick app.
