wiiremote, how?
#1
Hi!

I just upgraded to the latest (ubuntu package based) xbmc and when I searched synaptic for xbmc, there was a package named xbmc-eventclients-wiiremote.

I did use the wiiremote before, but it was pretty hard to configure it. So I thought it might be easier to use this package.
But I can't figure out how to enable it. If I enter xbmc-wiiremote in the console, connect the wiiremote and start xbmc I get a notification inside xbmc that says a wiiremote was found. But I can't use it. Nothing happens whatever a press.

I'd like to be able to start xbmc from the wiiremote. I could do that with my previous settings, so if it's not possible to do this, please just say so. I will then use the previous settings.

I'd also like to know how to enable full-screen please, can't find it.

You need to edit Keymap.xml for it to work. Although you can just wait until Beta1 as then there will be a keymap.xml that have wiiremote mappings.

If you really can't wait here's the keymap

And unfortuanatly you can't start XBMC via this approach, this however is way better integrated with XBMC so it IMO feels very good to use it.
Atlantis+1 might have support for launching XBMC via WiiRemote (all eventclients a matter of fact)

Tanks for the fast response.

But where can I find the Keymap.xml?
I use the ubuntu respository compilation and there for it's not in the ~/.XBMC folder.

Also, how do I turn on fullscreen? I'd like it to start in fullscreen automaticly.

Found it.

But I'd still like to know how to enable full screen though.

Ops! what I mean is that \ [backslash] don't work.

when I hit it, it goes up to fullscreen and then right back to ?non?-fullscreen again.

-fs is deprecated, set resolution in settings > appearance > screen to "Desktop"

Any specific things that bothered you with the WiiRemote support? (besides not beeing able to start XBMC with it because that won't happen until Atlantis+1) Because if you have anything specific then please put a request on it on trac / here and I'll mend for it.

The keymap.xml have gone through some bugfixxes after I linked to yours, so if you want to update it you could try it Smile

Cheers.

Using the hardy packages, connecting and using the wii-remote went really smooth. I love the simplicity.

I had some small problems though, while using the Keymap from the svn.

1) Go to music > on trying to select a directory, button A and B bring me back, so I'm not able to enter a directory.

2) While playing a video > press home; pointer works fine > then press videos > now i can only move the pointer in the upper left corner.

Except for there minor points, it works really well, nice job.

ignore that

the same fix in ref:15316 should be applied to line 368
(MyMusicFiles section)

from: <button id="5">ParentDir</button>
to: <button id="6">ParentDir</button>

to fix 1)
