Hi!
I have an Intel Nuc (NUC8i5BEK) and watch my stereoscopic movies full SBS "hardware based". The result is fine.
But I have a windows 10 problem. After the last windows updates I can not longer watch 3d "hardware based".
I can not stop permanently Windows updates. 
Is there a linux OS witch can "hardware based" too?
Maybe I should install windows 7 or 8?

For Kodi only and not a full OS, you could try LibreELEC 9.x, which should do 3D okay(ish). Try to testrun it via a bootable USB drive.

Only you can try and find out. Win8 wouldn't be my favorite though.

You can not stop WU or don't want to stop them? I ask because there is a simple way to completely stop Win10 updates permanently...

I use Windows Update Hard Block (StopUpdates10 Free) because it has an automatic (one click) full block/unblock, or I can use settings to choose what to block/not block
