Android Kodi is not starting, audioencoder.kodi.builtin.aac not installed or not enabled
#1
I launched a 2160p movie file on my Nvidia Shield. The movie played but it was lagging terribly so I opted for a force quit using the remote. I cleared the cache for Kodi.

However when I launched Kodi it would no longer start. I checked the log file and noticed an error at the bottom saying addon 'audioencoder.kodi.builtin.aac' not installed or not enabled. It also said CServiceManager::InitStageTwo: Unable to start CAddonMgr.

What went wrong? This has happened several times to me already and what I did was to delete the .kodi folder and replace it from a backup and all went fine. Now, even if I restore a backup it won't work. I hate to set up Kodi all over again from scratch .... and why is it doing this?

I've pasted the error log file below:

mod edit - and I've unpasted it and moved it to https://paste.kodi.tv/modosikome.kodi

@ManilaByNight - can I draw your attention to the nice friendly red text above the posting buttons...

Oops! Sorry for that. Everything is so new to me here. Now I know and won't commit that same mistake. Sad

I'm having the same issue on Chromecast with Google TV and my Pixel 2.  The only way I've found to fix it is complete uninstall and reinstall.  I'm hoping someone can offer some advice!

Any luck finding a solution to this?  I see you're using AdvancedSettings.xml?  I'm using that as well and I'm wondering if that is causing our issues.  Can you try removing that file to see if the issue persists?  I have no idea why that would cause issues, but that is all I can come up with.

Cheers,
Mike

I have had this issue, and I have been able to clear it up by clearing the cache for Kodi.  However, it still happens often.  I have a few log files, but I'm trying to get the logfile from the last time it was running to see if anything happens there, since my file looks a lot like your file.

I'm having the same issue too on the Walmart ONN 4K Android TV box with 19.4 install. Clear the cache and I can open it again but I have to clear the cache every time I open it.

As has been demonstrated that when you clear the cache it works, the reason is that the fault is that the storage device is running out of space, or it was in my case.

How I fixed mine was I moved Kodi to an external USB drive connected to my TV and the issue hasn't occurred again since.

Exactly how do I clear the Cache?  I have tried various online suggestions with no luck.
