On Xbox Series S at least native 4K output only works if is used 10 bit swapchain.
This means that is need 4K HDR TV to able detect 10 bits capability.
On 4K (not HDR) TV resolution is 1080p by default even if is configured all in 4K (is obtained a quality similar to 1080p upscaled to 4K).
A workaround to use 4K on not HDR TV (or if HDR is not detected for any reason: bad cables, adapters, converters, splitters, etc.) is use advancedsettings:
