Req nfo-file (link movie to series) is not working
#1
Hi, everyone
I hope this is the right place for my question. Unfortunately, I don't know much about such things.

I found out that you can link movies to series. I want to create an nfo.-file and save it in the existing movie folder. Unfortunately I haven't made it until now.

An example:
I want to write an nfo-file with the showlink for this movie: Assassination Classroom - 365 Days Time (2016)
The folder and the name of the movie is as written above. Nothing else is in the folder.
The title of the series is: Assassination Classroom (2015)

I've written this .nfo file, named it like the movie and saved it in the same folder, but nothing happens:
<movie>
   <showlink>Assassination Classroom (2015)</showlink>
</movie>

I also tried adding this headline as I read somewhere on the internet:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>

Can someone help me?

That showlink tag is one of many that needs to be included in a valid nfo file. That tag on its own won't work. See... https://kodi.wiki/view/NFO_files

1. You can link a movie and tv show from inside Kodi. Follow these steps... https://kodi.wiki/view/Linking_movies_to_TV_shows

2. You can also convert the movie into an episode of the tv show, and insert it in the appropriate place... https://kodi.wiki/view/Convert_movie_to_episode

If you still want to use the nfo method, best that you scrape the movie first. Export your library to separate files then insert that tag above. But honestly, using the first method above is much quicker and easier.
