Why not ask your beloved developers of that PuppyLinux distro. We here do not have support for every single Linux distro variant on this planet.
In the meantime, I doubt if they will also have the answer to your incredibly detailed & informative question, which is basically"it doesn't work".

You googled it, right?
Have you sought out the streaming version of what you’re trying to play? Dropping a disc into a tray or sliding it into a slot is pretty 2003. Sorry (not sorry).
I bet if you somehow rip the disc to your NAS it will play the file.
(Does that distro have hardware drivers for the device you’re hoping to use? )
