VICE - Kodi crashes when starting VICE emulator
#1
Hi!

When I try to start VICE emulator, Kodi crashes and restarts. I'm using Libreelec 10.0.2 with Kodi 19.4 on a PC and installed VICE through the default repo.

Here are some logs:
Output of journal: https://paste.kodi.tv/oqoqefusoh.kodi
kodi.log: https://paste.kodi.tv/ehumuhuwaw.kodi
kodi_crashlog: https://paste.kodi.tv/azenibumej.kodi

It crashes both with controllers plugged in and plugged out. I've noticed a screen showing a controller for some miliseconds before Kodi restarts. The controllers work with other emulators such as NES, Playstation etc.

I've already tried a soft reset but this doesn't work either. Do you have an idea?

Thanks and regards

Now I found out, what the message says, that is displayed for a very short time before Kodi restarts: "In this release, only controllers can be used to play games."

Perhaps it's a similar problem as here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=340080

Can someone help, please?

Hi there,

I have the same problem.

I have a Raspberry Pi 3 running with LibreELEC 9/Kodi 18 and VICE, all running smoothly. Yesterday, I installed LibreELEC 10/Kodi 19 from scratch. While everything else works fine (SNES emulation in particular), I have the exact same issue with respect to VICE: black screen, then restart of Kodi.

PS: There is an issue on Github, open since 2019 (!):

BTW, meanwhile I use LibreELEC-RR (https://github.com/SupervisedThinking/LibreELEC-RR/wiki) which works fine.

Do you know of any way to make LibreELEC work to its fullest potential?
