Hi everyone!

Can't install kodi-pvr-nextpvr plugin on Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS
Kodi: 19.4 (19.4.0) Git:20220330-b738e65ae5 Media Center Kodi (installed from https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu jammy)

When I try to install/upgrade kodi-api-pvr:

I've tried to reinstall kodi (sudo apt purge kodi*; sudo apt install kodi) - there is no effect.
Other pvr plugins (kodi-pvr-iptvsimple for example) installing and working without problems.

Any ideas? At my view there is something about broken dependences, but I have no idea how to fix it. Manual build?

The presence of kodi-api-pvr in dependencies clearly shows that you are picking kodi-pvr-nextpvr from Ubuntu repos, which is in fact based on Kodi from Debian. I checked the team's PPA and there is no kodi-pvr-nextpvr package built for jammy for some reason. @wsnipex can shed some loght on the exact log, but I think it might be possible to download https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/team-xb..._amd64.deb manually and install it.

Have some problems with package libtinyxml2-8, but have found it, install, and it works!

If the addon isn't loading this isn't really solved yet.  I just tried on my 22.04 machine and it didn't work either with the same error.

Looking at the PPA many binary addons are missing including other PVR packages.  I see only 41 packages listed filtered for Jammy while there are 193 in Impish.

Command line builds for both work and I did not have to install libtinyxml2-8

A solution / workaround was found for the specific issue the user had (installing kodi-pvr-nextpvr on Ubuntu), the "solved" tag is to let others know they have options.

As we are not the maintainers of "Kodi for Debian" or the PPA this will need to be addressed with them for a long term solution. The thread can still be commented on to address any further developments.

Apologies for some reason I thought we were talking about the Debian PPA. Yes we do provide the binaries for the Ubuntu PPA. That being said there seems to be a (albeit workaround) solution and the OP is satisfied. I am have no problem being overruled by another mod on this so you might find the thread "unsolved" again but for the mean time I'm not going to worry about semantics on this one.

Could you can tell me how this is solved for nightly builds of Nexus there is no link there for i? I don't get why is there such urgency on marking this solved since it needs to be tracked.

As a moderator you should care how other users will use this information.  Sure one user will have temporary success but then as soon as the PPA is fixed and new updates are available, and then not installed.  The hack could lead to extra support for me.  Non linux platforms are much easier for users to deal with upgrading via settings.

@emveepee as this is your addon we'll defer to your judgement. I guess it's your belief if marked solved others are more likely to follow this method. So even though technically it is solved for the OP, we certainty don't want to encourage something that may cause you more support burden.

Thanks,  the transcoding feature in pvr.nextpvr isn't available because kodi-inputstream-ffmpegdirect isn't available on 22.04 either so it isn't a full solution.  Also it isn't just my support there are 12 other PVR binaries that are not available on 22.04, but I am sure it will get worked out.
