Req Kodi on LG Web OS
I'm unable to get Dolby Atmos in Kodi

Whereas I get the Dolby Atmos in other players while playing the same file

Please share if anyone have any info on how to get Dolby Atmos (I use TV speakers for audio)

TV: LG C3 65
Kodi Ver: 21 (20.90.301)

@abhi0077 You need to turn on the passthrough option in Kodi settings > system > audio and make sure you enable Dolby Digital Plus at the bottom. It should work this way even when using TV speakers I believe. If it still isn’t working go to the setting in the LG TV settings > audio > additional settings > digital audio out > set this to Automatic and try playing the content again.

The passthrough and dolby digital is already on in my kodi settings

I will check LG TV settings once I get to the home

I was wondering
Is it possible that "Dolby Atmos" banner doesn't come up even if the audio is playing in Dolby Atmos format as tv might think that audio is getting passthroughed?

Hi everyone, I have a running Kodi (build 20230912-1f4ee05109) on LG OLED65C11LB (webOS 6.3.3-442) and everything is working smoothly except for one thing.

When running 4K streams which have bitrate over 25 Mbits/s, I get the buffering issue. I also have Android box (Nokia streaming box 8010) where I don't have any issues with buffering. Both are connected to the same WiFi.

My guess is that webOS doesn't have enough free RAM. It shows only around 600MB of free RAM.

Could this also be some different issue? Can you run 4K streams over 25MBit smoothly ?

You should definitely try updating to the latest nightly as a lot of fixes have been merged recently that seem related to your issue such as this one here. Report back if the issue is still present after updating.

That being said it can certainly still be a wifi issue. Just because the Android box next to your TV does have a decent connection, the same must not be true for the TV. Can you try using a wired ethernet connection? Most TVs only have a 100mbit/s port but that should be sufficient for pretty much any content. I have been able to play 200mbit/s files using a wired connection via a usb to ethernet adapter but you should be able to achieve the same on a wireless connection if the connection is good.

I'm new here, I'm not a programmer but I consider myself handy with software.

My TV is an LG OLED55B8PLA, I'm not sure if it uses webos 4 or webos 4.5.

I have managed to get Kodi to work "well" on my television, compile commit 7662d48 modifying the HOME directory so that it is set to the root folder of the application, in my version of webos it is set by default to /media/developer. Also pathelf the binary to set the RPATH to $ORIGIN/lib.

Those changes can be set in the master build because they do not affect new versions of webos, it simply tells the binary the options that are default in webos 5+

I don't know if this is the right place to say it, but it would be possible to add them to the master version, and add another change that my knowledge does not reach, making the option to disable hardware acceleration operational in the configuration, since in webos 4 o 4.5 is not operational and a black screen appears when playing.

My native language is Spanish, I have used Google Translate, I put the original text below.

Can I ask which adapter have you used? I have tried TP-LINK UE300 but my download was still 100 mbps (upload was 300mbps, which have me believed LG may by limiting it in software for some weird purpose)
I have C1.

With cable it works without buffering Smile
However new issue popped-up. After some time (~30min), Kodi app closes with message "This app will now restart to free up more memory" comming from LG. Only YouTube and Kodi is installed on my tv. Will try to find a solution

While using Kodi on LG C3, I have also faced this issue few times.

It seems like kodi's ram usage is higher than normal

@sergio151179 There's not much value in a hardware acceleration disabled build. You will be limited to maximum 1080p and most files will not play because there is not enough computation power for software decoding
@matthew6870 I am using a RTL8153 based adapter. Make sure you try different usb ports. I remember some of the ports were slower than others

There is a service called memchute that handles memory consumption of running apps. I haven't experienced memory issues personally, but it is certainly possible kodi is killed due to too excessive memory usage. Did this only happen after the relaunch option has been added?

Not sure when the relaunch option has been added, but it also happened on build 20230812-43bf4711 which is the oldest one under nightlies

@sundermann on my 2018 television I have managed to get it to work without acceleration. How can I help you to make acceleration work in webos 4 / 4.5

It's not awfully complicated and most stuff needed for webOS < 5 has already been figured out. But it needs some cleanup: https://github.com/Diniboy1123/xbmc-webos I don't own a pre webOS 5 device so it's difficult for me to implement and test that stuff.

@sundermann And your TV was able to play 200mbps? LG claims their TVs should handle 50/60 mbps bitrate.
