The issue isn't that is simply audio out of sync, if the problem was only this you could simply Set Audio delay to -275s to fix it, but when you turn on Kodi and delay is already setted the audio is however out of sync! You must try to stop and set again to fix the problem...

Have you found a solution? Have same issue with latest b2 version as well. Even when I set delay it works somehow weird. It works for some time but then I can see delay again for some reason. -275ms seems to be best value but it’s not reliable. Don’t understand this issue because all other applications have no issues with lipsync.

Thanks. I will watch this closely. I will try to play with passthrough settings in both kodi and tv so let’s see if there is some combination which is working. It’s indeed a weird issue since all other webos applications does not have issue with this audio sync.

Enabling passthrough doesn't really fix the issue. It just makes it slightly less obvious. I tried the latest nightly and the issue is still there. I'm afraid this bug can't be fixed with enabling passthrough or sync adjustments. It's a deeper underlying issue in the code. sundermann commented on Github: "There is no immediate fix for the mentioned issue. I am working on it but it's a rather complex issue requiring deeper access into the media frameworks which are closed source.". So, I'm afraid it will take a while before this gets fixed.

You are right, I’ve just tried it and as you have said it’s less obvious but still there. More over, the sound is often screwed during rewind and takes some
time util is synced back. Seems that -0.275ms without passthrough works the best set globally. However, I’ve noticed it’s not applied once the video starts - I need to fast forward once or twice until the audio is synced. Have you noticed similar issue? I guess this could be issue in software.

Hi Guys,

Another issue. KODI is crashing from time to time on LG C1. I believe it's same on different models but problem is that when it crashes it creates a very big dump file - folders like "core.1xxxxx" in org.xbmc.codi folder.

LG C1 has 3GB of memory and with clean KODI installation which is around 1GB I have ~800MB free space. If KODI has crashed several times I have a problem since my memory is full and KODI is very unstable and not working properly.

The only remedy is then to delete all "core.XXXX" folders in webOS Dev Manager. This is pretty uncomfortable as you may imagine.

So is there a way how to disable creation of these DUMP folders ?? This would resolve the issue.

Thanks.

A little update this core.xxx files are not created only upon crash but even when I exit KODI properly from the menu. I can't get this why these are created but 3 or 4 of these core files and I'm out of memory. Anyone else with this issue ?

Thank you all guys, I got a C2 this summer and I have just got the opportunity to play a bit with it these days. As first I looked for Kodi, and it works. It was a surprise to learn this didn't exist up to a few months ago.

Despite the known audio sync issues (that I can somehow overcome by seeking back a few times), I only have some doubts it is playng actual 4K content at full resolution with or without HDR. I simply don't know how to check. Kodi system info shows no support for HDR and says screen is at 1080p. Is there something within the TV that I can see to knwo the playing video input specs?

I am sorry for the late response. I was able to download kodi.log from the TV.

Pastebin where error happened: Error present
Then returned to home, started another application (which resulted kodi to exit).

Once again started another random play using API calls, which resulted a working Kodi menu.
Pastebin for comparison: here

what CPU and memory load does your TV have after you have started Kodi? Your LG 43NANO763QA may not have enough resources to run Kodi properly. You can find out in Terminal with the command: top
It is also possible that there is simply not enough flash memory available.
In this case, it is possible to delete superfluous demos from the flash. These can be found under /media/preload/storedemo/.

Top header says this (TV has 4 cores, I think top results shall be divided by 4)

Code:

top - 14:55:47 up 18 min,  0 users,  load average: 29.06, 28.81, 20.89
Tasks: 304 total,   1 running, 303 sleeping,   0 stopped,   0 zombie
%Cpu(s):  3.1 us,  2.8 sy,  0.0 ni, 92.5 id,  0.0 wa,  0.0 hi,  1.5 si,  0.0 st
MiB Mem :   1240.6 total,     88.2 free,    825.7 used,    326.7 buff/cache
MiB Swap:    900.0 total,    648.3 free,    251.6 used.    302.0 avail Mem

free -m (which is the same as Kodi's System info:

Code:

total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:            1240         825          87          56         327         302
Swap:            899         251         648

'/media/preload/storedemo/' is empty. Just to be sure, I had a look on '/media', but it still has some free space:

Code:

/dev/mmcblk0p59           2.0G      1.7G    341.5M a 83% /media

Not present on LG 43NANO763QA with Kodi version: 20.90.821
I had 3 core.xxxx files, but they were from regular use. 1-2 per month.
Thank you for pointing that out, I could free up 600 MB.

I'm very confused to find that Stephan Sundermann closed both github issues regarding the sync issues. It says it's "not planned" and "There's also some more information in the forum thread how some people managed to fix their audio issues" but these are not fixes at all. It keeps going out of sync and manually setting it every time really isn't a fix at all. I'm wondering why this serious issue is being ignored? I hope someone can elaborate a bit more.

Only the duplicate issue was closed. There is no point in tracking the same issue twice. That said, we are using reverse engineered APIs and LG has not really intended the media pipeline the way we are using it right now making synchronization a lot harder to implement correctly

Makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.

I haven't a real solution. -275 ms or -250 ms are the best values to have audio and video synced, but I have this issue with various video files. They can be encoded in x264 or x265, with AAC audio or AC3... there isn't a clear rule. I have this issue with all kind of files, but for some of them, without setting anything, audio and video can be already synced. Really strange. However, the best solution that I've found is setting the delay (when I have the issue), stop the video, and then play it again. So the audio is synced
