Hi!
I'm trying to install kodi on LG C1, but it says there is not enough space. How to install Kodi on USB? The instructions in this thread don't work.

was wondering if there was any additional stress on the TV (for eg higher CPU usage or something like that) compared to using plex/emby etc (especially for processing DV files in MKV format which the other players cannot do) ?

I'd like to ask if the Kodi app on LG TV frequently updates itself automatically, or do I have to update it every time manually?

@Skywalker2023 No need to worry about that as it uses hardware decoding of formats the tv has native support for anyway just like when using normal apps like YouTube and Netflix Smile

but LG tv's do not support DV in MKV formats natively right? as in no other players currently are able to play those correctly and either transcode or fallback to HDR if I am not wrong. would you know how Kodi is able to process DV MKV files when it is seemingly incompatible with the TV OS?

Hi. Is there a way to find iptv simple pvr for web os. If not how can I compile it for webos?

That question is probably best answered by @sundermann but I think mkv and mp4 are just containers and since Kodi already supports them compatibility has carried over to webOS as well.

@Skywalker2023: MKVs are merely a container. In order to play DV only HEVC/DV is needed. In this case Kodi unpacks the MKV into HEVC packets which is what LG's gstreamer implementation is unable to do.
@Tirri: If you have homebrew channel you can use that to update to the next (pre)release. However, updates must be triggered manually in homebrew channel. If you installed manually from ipk, then you need to apply updates yourself.
@model: pvr.iptvsimple is included with the build
@Kvert: You need to have enough space for the initial installation, user data can be put on a usb device but only on a rooted TV.

I'm having a lot of problems using this on my G3. It was very difficult getting any audio at all. It seemed like either my TV or receiver would just get stuck randomly and not output any audio. I don't think I ever got audio to play with passthrough enabled. I tried files with DD+, DTS, and TrueHD audio. I also saw it trying to buffer a lot, I'm guessing because it was trying to transcode the audio? My receiver never reported getting more than 2.1 channels either.

I saw the team mention that they didn't have a 2023 LG TV to test on, so I know I shouldn't expect much. Just wanted to provide feedback. I'm willing to try different builds out to help with the development.

I am on 2019 LG, 55UM7300 and installed Kodi through the following commands(because the webos brew installation fails with certificate error):

I am able to open Kodi and add an smb share. That I am also able to explore but when I run a video, kodi keeps on waiting and the video never actually plays. I can confirm its not a network issue as the connectivity is good for other devices and I am able to play that video elsewhere.

Anyone has any idea?

Where is the location of the log file at webos?
I can not see the location for webos at the wiki page
