Bicubic Upscaling problems
#1
When i set the video player to use bicubic upscaling the video gets really dark and black lines appear in a grid across the video. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I could really use the help.

Hi there, and welcome to the forums.

You are going to have to supply more information, including:

1. A full debug log.
2. Details of your graphics card.
3. Which build you are running.
4. Perhaps a screenshot of the effect?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I have exactly same problem.

I have ATI Radeon HD 3200 (AMB 780g chipset), Catalyst 8.6 drivers and kernel 2.6.25 (Arch Linux).

That seems to be an issue with the bicubic upscaling shader. It would be helpful if one of you can open a trac ticket regarding it and attach that screenshot and the debug log, so that it gets looked into. http://trac.xbmc.org

Ok i have created a ticket for this bug.
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/4910

I've had this bug trough all atlantis rels.

Hardware:
Intel cpu and motherboard.
Onboard ATI radeon Xpress 1250 driver version 8.322.0 from 08.01.2007
WindowsXP

Here the complete Debug Log since i turned on xbmc, started the video and runned trough the different modes.
http://pastebin.com/m3b4b60c1

Thing is that if i first select anything else than interlace handling "none" the bug is there all the time even if i change back to "none" again. To fix i have to stop the video and start it again.

The only option combo that works is to set interlaced handling to none and scaling to bilinear or nearest neighbor. All other combos gives me bug like in the screenshots.

I have an old driver so i gonna update and see what happens.

Here are screenshots for the different modes i tested trough:

New update. i installed the latest catalyst for my radeon X1250

Now the problem has changed. see screenshots:

All the modes when using Bilinear scaling works expect the interlace mode "blend"
The exact same is for nearest neighbor scaling.
When i try to use scaling method "bicub" in any of the interlace modes the video is lagging and chopping like hell.

Some of this errors might be because of my poor ATI hardware tough ?

Interlaced Handling Blend and scaling set to Bilinear:
The image freeze and "shivers"
