Using the latest stable Kodi, I have this issue where movie file with DTS or multichannel LPCM are played in the wrong speakers when I restart my computer.
It seem to fixed if I disable and enable audio passthrough. Anyone care to take a guess why this happens?
I have my computer connected to a LG TV, so no native DTS passthrough is possible.

Are you uding eARC to a AVR or Soundbar via the LG tv? If so try connecting directly to the audio device as there's a good chance the LG is messing up the Multichannel LPCM mapping.

It's a soundbar, so I don't really have the option to connect it directly.

As you mentioned, disabling and re-enabling audio passthrough seems to resolve the issue temporarily. This might be resetting the audio configuration and re-negotiating the audio format with your TV or receiver.

More information is needed in the form of a debug log.
Please capture a session where the sound initially goes to the wrong output and is fixed by the passthrough setting toggling.

I'm not sure how to do this?
Enabling/disabling passthrough doesn't help reliably I discovered.
If I have for example WASAPI default an start Kodi, the PCM channels are all over the place. If I change to another output, it usually helps and the channels are play from the right speaker, but only for the session.
If I quit Kodi, the problem reappears.

OK the log captures that playback was initially with 2 channels instead of 6.
There is no problem with the device name (WASAPI default). Does any flavor of DTS cause this for you? Your example has DTS-HDMA 7.1
Can you post screenshots of your audio settings?

There is likely a connection with the refresh rate switching. What happens if you turn it off, or lengthen/shorten the delay allowed for the switch?
