UPNP worked, but failing now
#1
My system is a HTPC running windows 10. Kodi starts automatically on boot and the device is pretty much online the entire day. I use the android app, to start playing music, one either of two device. One a a/v receiver and the other is a musiccast speaker.

This is a combo that worked like a charm for years, until a week ago the htpc crashed and I had to do a fresh install of Windows 10.
But I can't get Kodi to work again with my Musiccast devices. I have been trying and debugging for over a week now. It is really getting on my nerves Sad.

Windows 10
Core i3 7100
32GB ram
HDD's with media
Yamaha HTR-4069 (RX-481)
Yamaha Musiccast 50

Scenario
  1. Open up Musiccast android APP
  2. Choose 'Server' option
  3. Choose Kodi
  4. Navigate Music  -> Playlist
  5. Hit random playlist and choose song, music starts.
When I use VLC from my desktop, it just plays as expected.

Expections
  1. Music starts playing on step 5, should work from android app.
Actual result
  1. Playlist is listed, songs are listed, when a song is chosen, it keeps skipping songs until the rest of the list, and stops.
  2. The kodi.log shows like it hits every song 1-2 tenths of seconds, until end of playlist is reached.

I tried
  1. A fresh install of Kodi 20.1 (64b) / v20.2 (64b) / 21 (beta) and 20.2 (32b)
  2. Windows firewall off
  3. Power down the receiver and Musiccast 50 (no change)

Other devices
Musiccast 50
Yamah HTR receiver

The log is filled with errors like this one:

Code:
2023-11-28 20:33:29.446 T:12812   debug <general>: CUtil::GetMatchingSource: no matching source found for [d:\multimedia\muziek\luisterboek\Bambi Lees & Luisterboek.mp3]

Since you did a reinstall, could it be that you tried to restore a backup of some Kodi data. But maybe a drive letter changed, or you didn't define Kodi sources exactly the same way, ...

Hi CrystalP, I appreciate you taking time to trying to solve this issue.

You are on to something. The playlist would play locally without any issue. So that got me thinking the playlist was OK. And since VLC was also playing the music over the network without any issue.
So I suspected the Musiccast app to maybe hold some old data that corrupted playing new items.

I gave the new install a new name in the UPNP menu in Kodi, Saw the new name on the app, and hit a playlist, and lo and behold. The speakers came alive with music.

So probably some corrupt old data in the musiccast app prevented the playing of music.

The device showing up as UPNP device is still a bit flaky, but is stable when windows firewall is turned off. So I have some work cut out there, but thanks for helping me on my way.
