Android Atmos 7.1 not working 5.1 works
#1
I have Sony X90L connected with eArc with Samsung Q800C which is 5.1.2 channel soundbar.

I tried different formats and found that atmos content with 5.1 channel gets recognized by soundbar but 7.1 atmos content defaults to Dolby Digital Plus.

I'm on Kodi 21 Beta 3.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... Debug Log

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Problem is with your Sony, no smart TV running Android can Passthrough Dolby TrueHD+ATMOS (7.1+) from any app, and eARC is only for external devices.

Suggestion, get an external media player, see the most recent thread with "Best Options in 2024" for KODI use:

Thanks I'll do this in morning.

But is it cause because the tv may not be passing through 7.1? Since in kodi passthrough setting I don't see true hd checkbox.

Exactly, Kodi installed inside a Sony GoogleTV(Android) cannot passthrough TrueHD.

well there's your answer, don't need to see any logs now - if you can't even select it then it doesn't support it

Though "Atmos" doesn't really have 5.1 or 7.1 or any fixed number of channels. It's object based format.

Atmos can be included in either Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) or Dolby TrueHD streams. E-AC3 probably works with your TV, TrueHD doesn't.

primary playback device -> audio equipment -> display earc port
works best in (nearly) all situations

assuming tv is capable it should be able to auto-switch the soundbar between earc and hdmi on the soundbar using hdmi-cec
so if you use smart features on the tv it will switch the soundbar's input selection to earc and back to hdmi automagically, at least mine does

recheck your specs https://developer.amazon.com/docs/fire-t...ftvstick4k

doesn't support TrueHD Atmos, only EAC3 Atmos

Thanks I have limited knowledge on different audio tracks and assume it supports since it mentioned atmos.

Anyways i realized Amazon has blocked sideloading of apps and has removed kodi from its store so fire devices are no go

don't know where you got that information from but it's inaccurate, the store never had Kodi but sideloading is 100% working
i myself have 2 Cube Gen3s and plenty of other users are using Firesticks

have a look at the hardware section https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=112
