Solved Boot Kodi with windows don't focus on main window fullscreen
#1
Hi all,

I have a problem when I try to boot and autostart kodi with windows.
Everything is fine, but once windows starts and kodi is launched automatically (via shortcut in start menu of my user), I always have to do a CTRL+TAB to change the main window to Kodi. If not, I can't manage kodi, because it allways starts like a "bottom" window. So it's very frustating that everytime I power on my PC I have to do a CTRL+TAB to put kodi as the "active" window in order to navigate and control kodi...

I think I have no other processes or suspicious apps that may put over kodi at starting windows.

Do you know any solution (I have windows 11)?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Try Task Scheduler and add a delay.

Thanks for your help, but task scheduler doesn't work  Sad (even a delay). I've tested it this morning with the same result.
I thought it was about the display, but it's configurated as fullscreen and "use fullscreen window", but i think it doesn't depend on this. In fact I need it this way to launch emulators.

Maybe is there any argument in the windows shortcut that I can force to be on "main windows" screen?
or another workaround process?

You could also try adding

<fullscreen>true</fullscreen>

to an advancedsettings.xml so that it will force Kodi to open in fullscreen no matter if it's enabled in the GUI setting or not.  Fwiw, did you set a long enough delay using task manager?  Perhaps there's more to your setup than you've revealed such as multi monitors or something?  Also, have a look at start menu (All Apps)/Kodi/More/Open file location/Kodi/Properties/Shortcut tab/Run:/Normal Window is selected in the radio button and not minimized or maximized.  In the compatibility tab, nothing should be selected.

Thanks to all of you. Finally with launcher4kodi I could boot Windows and kodi together and kodi seems to respond correctly without doing alt+tab.
I only have my TV as main display.
It was very strange because if I launched kodi with same shortcut but later, once Windows is loaded, it worked correctly. The problem was only from boot.
I also tried to do the trick of advancesettings.xml but only for command alwaysontop, and It didn't work. I didn't test fullscreen argument.
Honestly I didn't want add another app to boot up with windows, but at least I can use launcher4kodi to solve the problem "magically"...
Thanks again for your support!
