Apple TV gen1 (silver) questions

Let's get it out of the way first.
I know there are better ways to utilize KODI today. There are cheaper ways, more power efficient ways. And I know the first gen Apple TV is 16-17 years old at this point.

However, I think the origial silver Apple TV gen1 is charming, and I love to tinker with stuff.
Heck, I would still be running my original Xbox if it could handle HD, since it's my favorite media player of all time. So many memories.

I have a Apple TV gen1 lying around, but last time I checked I figured it was on it's last legs, because it was extremely slow and choppy running the KODI UI even.

So, I have picked up a "new" one (barely used according to the previous owner), and also bought another CrystalHD card to put in.

Which is the most up to date distro for ATV gen1 that runs Kodi? Is it still OSMC? Which I believe dropped ATV support back in 2017.
Or is there another solution I might have missed?
Is the best solution to run from USB or the internal HDD, assuming it still works?
It's difficult to goggle. 99% of the results that show up is about Apple TV 4K gen1.

I mainly use Plex, and have a NAS that does the heavy lifting. Is it possible to run a Plex server on older KODI releases?

It was worth a shot.
If I find anything out, I'll post it here so I can at least help others.
I can't be the only one who enjoys tinkering with old tech.
