4K, deinterlacing, various picture quality problems

Copied your code, added to new xml and saved to path in wiki. Couldn't play any files, I'm afraid. Deleted xml, and playback returned to normal. Any ideas?

Note under Setup in the wiki the filename argument is <filename>C:\Program Files\vlc\vlc.exe</filename>

A strict copy of the of the VLC example will have to be modified as to path of your installation. Re-install the playercorefactory.xml and let's have a proper debug log, fail or not.

Thanks, that seems to be working now, but not as I expected. I thought the VLC engine would be incorporated into the Kodi GUI, but instead, this is just launching VLC. Also, picture quality worse somehow(!) Have reverted.

I have noticed I now no longer have the ability to manage versions of a movie in the library. For some reason, when restoring the library, these versions aren't carried over, which is frustrating. Movie sets seem fine.

Despite uninstalling Emby, there are lots of entries in context menu that I can't seem to shift.

Yup, that's what the external player script is all about. More sophisticated versions allow choices and other players, some utilize Kodi controls, check the forum for more tips.

Versions initially are a product of the scrape, once the library for version is set an export of the library to separate files should maintain the config. To add to an existing versions, you would do that manually through the information page. Video versions (wiki) note: Library Update Method

I don't use this add-on/plugin best to explore the Emby support forum and check here.

Understood. As far as the Versions issue is concerned, I usually have to do this manually by selecting a movie, hitting Context, Manage Versions, and go from there, but in this case, manual method doesn't seem to be working either.

Try access via the information page, do you have a 'versions' option? (should be right of director on the info page) Video versions (wiki)

Can't see it, I'm afraid. So strange that it's disappeared, almost.

You might have to use the arrow keys to move to the right. Otherwise the skin may be corrupt and re-installation needed.

I've tried reinstalling the skin, but still no Versions. Anything else I can try, please?

Try the default skin, and in the information page note using the right arrow buttons to scroll the options.
To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum
