I downloaded the nightly from 10-30-24 and installed it on my NVidia Shield.  Unfortunately, the MKA bug is still there that black_eagle claimed to have fixed here:

https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3208331

Am I missing something?  It's on GitHub.  I pulled the nightly from https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/androi...v8a/Omega/

Yep.
Look at the labels. It is merged into Master which is v22 Piers. Also note the label "Backport needed".
It hasn't been added to v21 yet.
Best to bump the request for a backport in the actual PR.

I tried that. All I got was the guy who fixed asking if I could get it from GitHub. No idea how to do that. I'm not set up to compile and I see no binaries. I guess I'm stuck waiting for the next major version of KODI. I use an old KODI Nerds version of I need direct access to the tracks I can't select. It worked for 2-3 versions of KODI.

The better question is how it broke in the first place. I must be the only person that uses MKA files or something since no one else seem to notice.

Piers is the master folder https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/androi...8a/master/
you installed the Omega folder and were told it has not been backported to Omega
seems like the solution is to install Piers from the master until Omega has this backport

There are quite a few of us using MKA files. You just need to workaround the problem.

Using a CUE file mapped to the MKA without chapters is one. (The Music Media Helper windows app has a ‘Chapter Editor’ tool that will create CUE file from an MKA or MKV without chapters chapters. If the input in MKA you get an option to create a new MKA without chapters when the CUE is created (especially for this Kodi problem).

The issue started when MKA with Chapters was changed in Kodi to be considered an ‘Audiobook’ (not music!) in the music library. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.

In Kodi 22 you can import an mka with chapters and MusicBrainz tags into the music library without a CUE file. The Music Media Helper Helper Chapter Editor tool creates all the tags needed by Kodi 22 when you use the ‘Get Tracks from MusicBrainz’ command button.

I wasn't aware of that location. I installed a nightly and the MKA last track is selectable once again, which is great. Thanks for the link.

However, there are still obvious issues left. One was mentioned by someone else, but got no response. The last track now shows gibberish numbers as its track length (e.g. It says track 15 of Yello's Atmos album Point is 842:29:45 long.

The other (now less of an issue) issue is that using Videoplayer had been giving me gapless playback (paplayer still had slight gaps in last official release) but the track counter shows the total into the album rather than the start of the individual track/chapter. For example, track 2 shows 3:10/3:16 at the start of the track where 3:10 should be zero and 3:16 is the correct length of the song. It shows the correct number if you use paplayer, but then I used to have the (slight) gap issues.

But testing it just now before posting shows the current nightly seems to have eliminated the gaps entirely (just tried Dark Side of the Moon between Breathe and On The Run). So if that holds true with all MKA files, I won't need the Videoplayer anymore and paplayer shows the correct start of track time.

But both still show the length of the last track/chapter incorrectly. I don't know how much bother that would be to fix.

In not sure we're talking about the same things. My issue was with MKA display issues as described above. I haven't been trying to import them into my library. I actually prefer to keep my stereo and surround libraries separate. I don't generally use playlists at home as in typically doing serious listening and like to choose my music I play next by hand. I use lists more in the car for random play.

The CUE corrects the song order and plays from the first song in Kodi 21, which I thought was your main issue?

My issue was the last track is shown first and cannot be clicked on period (doesn't do anything and shows the album name with it). The rest worked. I've got the "master" nightly installed now and it not only works fine but it's gapless now on paplayer, which was a nice surprise (no longer have to use videoplayer that doesn't show the right song time). The only issue I see left is the last track usually (not always) shows some messed up time for the track length. It must be something odd because a couple of albums are correct while others show 200:43:12 or something equally nonsensical when the track is actually 3:38 or whatever. Someone else reported that months ago after the first fix on GitHub. It was never addressed.

As for CUE files, in my experience they take a lot longer to get to the middle and end tracks than other direct formats. I've got some DTS cue albums and it can take 200 seconds to start on my Nvidia Shield if I go to the last track on a locally stored album and maybe two minutes over the network. MKV and MKA are instant by comparison. I've had longer start times for MP4 files too compared to MKV. That started happening years ago. I get a lot of playback issues on my older FireTV 4K unit with MP4/M4V files (which I used to use for Apple TV compatibility). Just converting them to a MKV wrapper usually fixes it. The Shield is considerably faster to start them, but still slower than MKV. I'm not sure what the issue is as I don't think it used to be that way many years ago. It's just easier to do MKV from the start and MKV supported Atmos and TrueHD all along. M4V is finicky with Apple controlling it. But it's the only one Apple TV supports directly with their own player. They don't directly support lossless so I got a Shield. It has its own issues, however and Nvidia support is getting to be non-existent these days.

Yea, I forget you use the file system to navigate and play music. I use the music library with tagged files. CUEs get imported into the library so it’s instant start on any position in the MKA or MKV file as the Kodi music database has imported  the start time for each song from the cue. Kodi 22 will do that from an MKA directly if the MKA is tagged. Anyway wrong thread for detailed music discussion.
