XBMC crashing when connecting to my TV
#1
I am running XBMC on Win XP. The laptop is a 1.7GHz Thinkpad with 2GB of memory. XBMC runs fine on the laptop, but the minute i try to connect it to my TV, it crashes. I usually close XBMC, then connect it to my TV. Windows show up without any problems, but as soon as i launch XBMC, it crashes. I am using a dock station with DVI out connecting to my TV.

I wonder if it has to do with multi-monitor support, etc.

Anybody experience similar issues?

Try to run it windowed first and see if you can get it working that way. Than adjust the video settings after that to the proper settings.

Are you saying launch XBMC windowed and then connect it to the TV and adjust res?

Check your logfile for your OpenGL support:

Sometimes the driver doesn't support OpenGL when connected to a TV.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.
