Hi people,

I please some help displaying the release date correctly in Kodi's album informations dialog.

I'm using the "date" tag for my music files to add the release year of the song.

For my compilations, I would to use the "releasedate" tag too, to display the release date of that compilation.

But in Kodi, the year displayed in the album information's release year field  does not match the year I typed in in the "releasedate" tag.

I use Picard to tag my files.

There are two date fields that Kodi can use and display.  The first is simply "date" and the second is "originaldate"  See https://kodi.wiki/view/Music_tagging#Tags_Kodi_reads



There is a toggle to use either the original release date or just the date field.



ON, kodi uses 1969 for the year



Off, kodi uses the date field (1994 as this is a re-issue).



You can see both dates (if available) in the album and song information windows eg,



Either of the dates can be used in smartplaylists and to filter results but in the main library, Kodi will use and display just the one date, depending upon the setting.
