I added a user-friendly error message when running N64 games:

As you can see, games that requires OpenGL aren't supported yet. But work is ongoing!

As far as your particular error, installing all game add-ons should work. Your error is:

Code:

2025-01-04 14:03:56.000 T:15057 error <general>: CAddonInfoBuilder:TonguearseXML: addon.xml from 'game.libretro.mupen64plus' for binary type 'kodi.gameclient' doesn't contain library and addon becomes ignored

The "library" it mentions is generated by OSMC packaging. I suggest you ask for help on their forum. I can still help, if you post the addon.xml file shipped with the problematic cores. But like I said, you'll want to use other cores, as GL cores won't work yet.

garbear , let me ask a better question.  How do you recommend getting a retro gaming front end installed on Kodi?  I have a Vero V which has OSMC on it.  I have install multiple Retropie's from git source for this and other zip files.  Nothing has worked.  Is this possible to get working?  If yes how?  I only want to play two games Tetris on N64 and Ms. Pacman on MAME.

At this point I can erase and start over as I have done this many times recently.

Kodi is a retro gaming frontend. I personally use IAGL to launch 2D Games in Kodi using RetroPlayer.

I can help with MAME. We ship 5 versions but I haven't gotten input working correctly on all. I did, however, fix launching zip files in v21.2 and the latest nightlies. If you'd like to test, I'd like to hear what's left to get MAME working with RetroPlayer.

Let's aim for more comprehensive arcade games support in RetroPlayer. I've had some good RetroPlayer arcade gaming sessions with friends so I know the basics are there. That makes this just a "long tail" project, where we chase down the long tail of small problem as we get closer to perfection.

I think the first step is to inventory the arcade cores. I've been maintaining several FBA and MAME cores so that we can find which ones have strengths and weaknesses. Here's the cores I see on my ARM macbook:

Image

What platform are you on? Which cores do you see in the add-on browser?

Other data to obtain:

  • Which ones can load any games, and which ones crash?
  • How playable are games?
  • How well does input work? Any success with multiplayer?

I think inventorying our current progress is a good first step, and then it's on to honorable success!
