Crash on Startup + Open GL 2.1

EDIT: If you can't do 1920x1200 @ 24/32bpp, try lowering the resolution but maintain 32bpp (or 24bpp if that's the only option).

THAT's IT! 32bpp was the key. 1920x1200 @ 32bpp is sweet!!!

Thank you guys!

Hello all,

I installed xbmc on a old box (Athlon 1200MHz, GeForce 4 Ti 4200) and i'm getting some of the problems described above: xbmc crashes on startup on fullscreen and windowed mode. There's no specific error, just one of those windows saying "XBMC encountered a problem and..." with a send and a don't send error report buttons.

I've tried all the proposed solutions here without any luck.
I've installed the latest drivers for my graphics card (v93.71). OpenGL extensions viewer reports the following:

Any ideas?

Thank you.

EDIT: I installed Ubuntu (Hardy) on the same box and then XBMC using the apt-get/synaptics. It worked perfectly so the box isn't the problem.
However, I'd prefer running XBMC under Win XP. Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you.
