Windows 7 + XBMC

Working fine on RC1 x86 without tweaking (disable uac)

Windows 7 Build 7100 RC x86 here and everything working fine. Same happens on 7057 and 7068 Builds.

The strange thing is happen with latest NVIDIA drivers.

All the drivers that include NVIDIA PhysX Technology they have the following strange behavior : When you open XBMC in Windowed mode and you toggle Full Screen you loose the Windows Aero future until you shutdown XBMC. If you open XBMC and you stay in Windowed mode no problem the Aero thing is working. The minute you go fullscreen...that's it...Aero is dead. Even if you come back to Windowed mode with the ToggleFullScreen (backslash) key.
In any scenario everything is working fine on XBMC no problem.

This is happening in all Windows versions (XP,Vista & Win7), and with all the latest drivers versions from NVIDIA. So i went back to version 175.19 which NVIDIA PhysX™ Technology is not included and...voila. Aero is allways on. Fullscreen, Windowed mode and ToggleFullScreen.

Any ideas.

One more thing. After i install the latest XBMC version 9.04 Babylon-Beta1 the ToggleFullScreen (with backslash key) function is gone. Even the middle window sign for maximizing is disable.

Is that something well known for the latest beta or is something wrong with my XBMC installation ?.

Edit: I started a new thread for this since is not Win7 issue.

latest IKONS build - win7 x64 7100 RC

everything is running just great! everything was broken under ubuntu, sound, video, etc. and i was getting tired of xp so this is just fresh!!!!

no slowdowns and no dropped frames on killasample.
not running in compatibility mode or running as admin.

i can't wait until the devs optimize it for win7. it's gonna be much better.

First XBMC wasn't working neither on Windows 7 Build 7077.
But after installing the latest Nvidia driver, everything worked fine.

I also installed Nvidia's HDMI audio driver, because Windows 7 only was able to output stereo instead of 5.1.

My small advise is to replace the Windows drivers by those of the manufacturer.

PS: My motherbord is a Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H
Intel NUC BOXD34010WYK2 / Intel mSata 525 30GB / Kingston 8 GB / Intel 7260hmw

Not working here, but I have a ATI 9550. It won't let me install the Vista 32 drivers for it. There has to be a way around that.

Hope someone can help me.

I had XBMC running on Windows 7 build 7077 but I can't get it to run on the RC that just came out.

When I first ran XBMC it told me I was missing the C runtime files I installed those and I got past that problem.

When I run xbmc on my windows 7 machine it crashes right away. I am using a motherboard with the intel 945g graphics chip. I tried to install the latest graphics drivers from Intel but is says "wrong OS", I went to Microsoft but those drivers say I have the latest version. I look at the log file and there is nothing that gives me a clue there.

1. Download the latest Vista drivers for your graphics card from Intel.
2. Right click the installer and click properties.
3. In the Compatibility tab, turn on compatibility mode with Vista.
4. Install.

You could also download the zipped version and install manually through the device manager. Windows 7 can use Vista (WDDM 1.0) display drivers. You need WDDM 1.1 drivers to support some of the new APIs in Windows 7, but XBMC doesn't use those.

Also, download a newer version of XBMC.

I installed latest beta (not svn) on 32bit RC build 7100 and XBMC would not start (hence I am searching for answers) Its running on older Mac Mini with Intel gma950(Huh) integrated. I will try it on my new i7 machine with gtx 285 tomorrow.

I can practically guarantee you are having the exact same problem as everyone else using Intel graphics. You need to install drivers from Intel, not from Microsoft.

j33g, if you happen to read this BEFORE updating your drivers, could you install this version of XBMC?

This should produce a pop-up if the drivers are old or incompatible. Unfortunately, the people who might test it already have up to date drivers, so testing it is tricky.

haven't updated my drivers, yay! I can help you test. I will give it a shot. Install on top of current public beta? (no un-install needed?)

It's probably best to uninstall. You should not need to delete you user folder though.

Didn't work for me - I just updated one of my boxes to Win7 7100 and it didn't indicate anything was wrong but:

14:49:13 T:5176 M:828407808 NOTICE: GL_VENDOR = Microsoft Corporation
14:49:13 T:5176 M:828407808 NOTICE: GL_RENDERER = GDI Generic

14:49:13 T:5176 M:828407808 NOTICE: GL_EXTENSIONS = GL_WIN_swap_hint GL_EXT_bgra GL_EXT_paletted_texture

I'll hold off on updating drivers if you want to try some other tests...
