Looking for any INPUT on this please -- Have several files with 5.1 in either DD or DTS and I am currently unable to get XBMC Live (AC97 audio) to work with these files -- they play but no sound.

Anything that is not 2CH works file -- I have it set to digital with DD/DTS enabled.

Any suggestions on where to start with this -- tyvm!!

Did you go to alsamixer and raise the volumes on those speakers?

I initially went into ALSAMIXER because I thought the Digital out was muted (I was only trying 2 different files (1 xvid and 1 x.264) both which were not outputting any audio -- come to find out my digital out was not muted and worked just not with DD and/or DTS encoded files.

I am not exactly sure what I would be changing that would change the volume on 2ch out and not 5ch -- again thanks and any additional help is highly appreciated.

Long time XBMC (xbox) user and finally attempting to make the transition over to the Linux version so I can take full advantage of x.264/HDTV media.

If you go into alasmixer you'll see the settings for front speaker, surround speaker, etc...
You can increase the volumes on those with your arrow keys, did you try that?
