[AppleTV] XBMC ATV Patchstick Creator for Windows released
#91
Looks like Apple has removed the older dmgs, need to change the download URL in the batch file from;

Code:
http://mesu.apple.com/data/OS/061-5651.20081119.32VtA/2Z694-5573-24.dmg

to;

Code:
http://mesu.apple.com/data/OS/061-6242.20090624.Aq20P/2Z694-5660-029.dmg

Also the other references to the file need changing, obviously. While re-patching my ATV last night I found that there is an updated batch file here...

I know I'm a noob at this, but I thought I would have at least gotten past the zip extract seamlessly.

I have downloaded the Windows zipped file from the site listed in the first thread of this topic. The zipped
folder I downloaded is titled atv-win-1.0.b11. When I open and click on
extract, it tells me there are files already in there that have the same
name. In the zipped folder, there are two folders, one is _MACOSX, and the
other is atv-win.1.0.b11. These have the folder icon and seem to have
stuff in them. In addition, there are two other documents in there with
the same names as above...which I think is causing the problem. It
states "There is already a file name with the folder name you specified.
Specify a different name." When I look into the folders, this seems to be occurring with all documents, where there is a duplicate, empty folder in addition to the folder with "stuff."

I have not even been able to get to the extract step yet, so this is the way it was
downloaded. How do I remedy this? Do I delete those two documents (they
actually seem to be empty folders, but have the document icon)? I have unzipped many things before, and never run into this. Thanks.

It depends on your unzip tool, but for WinZip (for example) you need to have the "Use folder names" option ticked. This will create the different subfolders that hold the like-named files. Start by extracting to a drive letter and simple path (C:\temp\ or D:\temp\).

Thanks! I tried the extract on my XP based laptop and it worked fine. I had been trying it on a Vista computer, so who knows what the issue was. Thanks for the advice.

EDIT: Problem fixed.

I have two files in my folder that look big enough for the image file needed to load onto the patchstick.

Do I pick atv-xbmc-ssh.img or 2z694-5660-029.dmg?

thanks.

I downloaded this and run the bat to get the disk image.

However, the following errors comes up:

** Fetching Apple r2.3 update DMG

**********************************************************************
** Some sort of error has occured, aborting operation

the message on the DOS Shell is more complicated. It looks like it cannot download somethink on Mesu.apple.com It connects ok, but them it says that a file has been moved temporarily.

I have also downloaded a file called mk-atv-xbmc-ssh(2-4), which has a new URL for a DMG. Unfortunately I got the same error.

What's going on?

thx

I have finished with a GUI version of davilla popular atvusb-creator. This program has everything you need in order to create a patchstick for your Apple TV with a point & click interface

Currently I've asked davilla to test out the program for me and to make sure it's on par with his standards before i release it to the public. It shouldn't take that long as i have tested it a lot and it seems to be solid.. even though i've only worked on it for about a week.

Anyways, here are some screen shots of the program running from start to finish

Hi, This looks like a very handy aplication.
I've tried to use it but i constantly get an error notification. Sometimes (almost) at the end of the procedure, other times at the beginning.

I've tried quite some USB-sticks. A lot of them won't work at all, if i select them the application instantly stops.

Does anyone have any suggenstions for me?
I'm running windows XP and want to install Boxee on my new Apple TV.

Thanks

Sorry for my delay Kickback. I've started my last semester and its pretty time consuming!

I appreciate you taking the time to use my program but I noticed that davilla made his own version for windows so I guess so ahead and just use that. I'll be taking down my google page and the program.

Thanks to those who have used my version and enjoyed it! Smile

"Your client does not have permission to get URL /p/gui-projects/downloads/list from this server." ?
I should have read more before asking a silly question. Big Grin
