No video on Vista?

So I upgraded to 8.10 Atlantis and everything was going awesome. I brought my computer home for Thanksgiving (i'm at university) and hooked it up to an SDTV using a VGA-> scanline converter. XBMC worked flawlessly (err, as flawlessly as a computer can through a scanline converter *shudders*) but the other day i went to use XBMC and I get no video output at all. no menus, nothing. I can, however, hear the menu sounds when i move through them, and i can make selections, i just can't see what i'm doing.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32bit on an Intel DG45FC motherboard (X4500HD graphics) with a pentium dual core e5200. I'm also running 1 gig of ram.

I've tried reinstalling, and when i brought it back to school and hooked it up to my normal monitor (20" 1680x1050 32bit color depth) it still doesn't work.
