nothing is wrong, you simply need a quad to playback high bitrate 1080p content, i learned that my self when i build an AMD 5600+ system for XBMC.
playback of VC1 lower bitrate was fine, when high bitrate H264 content was used it would drop frames and cause audio sync issues.

That's something I've almost thought ;-(
Thanks for the information.
What AMD Quad CPU you have chosen?
I tend to: "AMD Phenom X4 9550 + Socket-AM2 boxed, 4x 2.20GHz, 4x 512kB Cache"
Is the power of enougth?
The CPU has only a TDP of 95.0 W
Thank you

@althekiller: which X2 AMD CPU should ill use to speed up 1080p decoding (and decrease the cpu load)?
Thanks that you prevent me from buying a expensive X4 CPU!

My Mainboard also supports a:
"AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 65nm Sockel-AM2 boxed, 2x 3.10GHz "
Is this enougth for decding high quality 1080p h264 files?
Thanks

I know nothing of AMD's offerings other than they are lacking significantly to Intel's. The Intel c2d e8400 can play most anything you throw at it no problem. Note that due to architectural advantages that an AMD CPU with the same freq/bus clk/cache size will NOT perform as well.

The answer is simple, if you want to play all 1080p content get an intel E8400. If you are happy to compromise get a amd 6000+ it will play 90% of 1080p content but prepare for dropped frames in some movies. I have gone the amd path and it is a pain in the arse, best to just change to intel, i did and haven't looked back since
cheers
