HTPC hardware, take 2
#1
I recently built an HTPC to play 1080p videos, but it never managed to used dedicated software like XBMC (which i used since the original xbox). Im able to play 1080p videos on bsplayer but not on xbmc.

So i'm now looking forward and upgrade and need some help, to make sure this time, my config is right.

Current Setup

ASUS m2a-vm HDMI
AMD X2 5200+
1gb ram

Future Setup w/ upgrade

GIGABYTE MA78GM-S2H
Processor - I HAVE NO IDEA - Need some help here

Whats you opinion? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. Smile

Might suggest that if the only issue is running 1080 material on xbmc that you wait for HA video decoding. Use the launch external player script while you wait for the HA to get here.

If you must upgrade then go for a C2D 8500 I hear many people get the killer sample to play without any probs with that.

i think you can get it running on your setup. I'm using a X2 6000+ and my cpu only gets hit at 50 / 60% when playing 1080p mkv's. Try a clean user profile without changing any settings...... a cpu upgrade would be sufficient too.
