would it look anything like the apple remote's UI (would be a pretty good thing if it did, since i belive they got useability and ergonomy right)?
does it use the webserver?

Wonderful to see some work for a Android remote!

For inspiration take a look at:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53824
and:
http://www.peterdamen.com/iphone/xmote.html

Also - please consider to make a cutomizable interface. In my case I wood like to have custom buttons witch send http commands to control my receiver. I suppose this feature could be useful for many different things lika a custom remote for the computer.

Anyway, great to hear that someone is working and Im looking forward to test the alpha!

Just some feature suggestions
Ability to use on screen keyboard to type (Magic doesn't have a hardware keyboard)
Some basic info on screen, What is playing, duration, etc. (Album art would be great).
Don't know if it is possible at all, but some form of remote start, so the XBMC will be run when you start the app.

What is the version of the android operating system?

Will Android 1.5, 1.6 or do I need 2.1 OS. I found a device for less than $100 shipped that runs with the 1.6 OS. The only problem could be that it is a 7" TFT screen, so I don't know if it will work with the app if screen size is a concern. Also it is limited to type of video container that it supports, but htat is a future and I would be using soemthing like a droid phone device for remote music and video syncs.

Here is the link:
http://www.shanzai.com/index.php?option=...iew&id=951

Would it work? Or should I look for a smaller screen version?

A $100 seems to be a good entry point. LOL!

EDIT:
Found the Wiki, 1.5 will work and support for large screens or at least the size of the 7" I listed above. I ordered the unit and it should be here in 4-5 days, total $104 and change. Can't wait to try it out, now to start working on WOL option. It will be nice to get rid of the remote dongles that just do not resume based on my latest upgrade.

Im having a problem using the remote control functions such as stop, pause ,rewind etc but i have no problem in connecting to the xbmc selecting a video and it playing.

The radio button is ticked to allow access for other devices to control it so im not sure what the problem is......

Any ideas?!

Thanks

This is really good application and I precied all of the creators.

I would suggest a new feature: Is it possible that playing file (or selected one) transfer to my phone via XBMC?

Thanks

First, I wish to express that the availability of this application is terrific beyond words.

Second, I am wondering whether any thought has been given to a plugin framework, and if not, I would like to propose the idea.

I am particularly thinking of the idea that, just as XBMC provides a plugin framework, it would be excellent if plugin developers could also provide a corresponding plugin for the remote enabling it to control whatever feature the XBMC plugin offers. For example, teshephe has developed an absolutely wonderful XBMC plugin enabling the sending of audio and/or video from a master XBMC device to one or more slave XMBC devices. In my proposal, it would be possible to extend the functionality of the remote so that it could control this addon feature.
