Why don't plugins work?
#1
I installed a bunch of plugins, including for example these video plugins:
Code:
66stage                  G4TV            Hulu             NBA.com Videos      SceneReleases      Tv Shack  VideoDevil       XBMCEyetvScraper
AOL Videos               GameTrailersHD  LastTube         Onion News Network  TED Talks          UlmenTV   VideoMonkey      Yahoo Music Videos
Apple Movie Trailers II  Google video    MPlayer Samples  Revision3           Theater Showtimes  Veoh      XBMCEyetvParser
I can't get any of them to work except Rev3. Hulu, Apple Trailers, Onion, 66stage, TV Shack, all of them will list the contents and let me navigate to a movie, episode, or clip, but when I "drill down" through the menus, I always end up being shown a file with "0.0" on the right. When I select it, a dialog appears saying that it's trying to load the file, then it says "terminating" and disappears. I've tried running these from the "Video Plugins" item in the Videos menu and I;ve tried adding them as video sources. It does not matter.

I must be doing something wrong. I followed the instruction on the plugin installation howto. It's not complicated. But they still don't work.

In the case of the Apple Trailers plugin, I select it form the list and a dialog appears but them immediately vanishes and nothing happens. Here's the relevant entry from the log:

In the case of Hulu, the initial listing shows only 11 TV shows. Nonetheless, here's the error log for an episode of The Office:

http://pastebin.com/f56f7aafa

Here's what happens when trying to watch 300 on 66Stage:

http://pastebin.com/f60f520d0

Any ideas why I can't make plugins work? Thanks!

I guess changes to the corresponding websites cause plugins to stop working until the author compensates for the change. But I'm indeed frustrated with getting "popular" plugins to work. For instance Yahoo Music Videos plugin installs and then gives a message that says "getting session id", then simply stalls.

My problem turned out to be that the newer plugins require newer builds of XBMC. I have been running 8.10 "Atlantis" but now that I've installed from SVN, Hulu and AMT plugins are working great. I think 66stage is probably gone forever and I'm not sure about the rest.

Did you install from SVN PPA or compiled it yourself?
Be aware, that 2 packages which are needed for plugins, missing from the required package list of README.Linux. These are 'zip' and 'curl'
