karifsmith Wrote:I just installed XBMC via this guide and I'm using the Asus P5N7A-VM mobo. I'm using the optical output for audio and sending that to my receiver. Audio worked great for me and then all of a sudden it stopped working on analog sources. I tried what tslayer posted here and so far audio has been working just fine again:

Hope that helps with your first problem!
Thanks, I will try that, but it brings up a question/issue(?). When I stop XBMC I do not have a proper prompt. There is no blinking cursor, no text saying what user/folder I am in. The keyboard works -- I can type letters etc, but nothing executes. Is this normal? Do I follow tslayers instructions using SSH?
olympia Wrote:How did you set up your audio in XBMC?
I have the same mobo as you, and using S/PDIF and all sound works.
My settings are:
Digital
checked
checked
default
iec958
Also, did you set S/PDIF for audio output in your BIOS?
My sound settings are exactly the same. I have tried setting the S/PDIF to HDMI but then I get no sound at all.
