Actually you only have to change the default resolution and refresh rate at settings/appearance/screen/resolution. Change it until you see 1920x1080@60, then reboot.
To be able to display movies with other refresh rates properly, enable autorefresh at settings/video settings/player/auto refresh.

That is what autorefresh for. You can handle movies with different fps properly if you enable it.
