Same thing here: I have the ATI remote wonder and am seeing it as well.

I'd really like to keep using the remote. Any work arounds?

I'm having the same issue, and I believe it has everything to do with the ATI Remote Wonder.
This is the system that I am using for this setup

A-bit NF7-S2 mobo 2GB PC-3200 DDR w/ Socket A AthlonXP 3200+ (no overclocking on RAM or CPU)
onboard AC97 Audio (Analog)
Antec (forgot the model) 500w PSU
ATI Radeon X1300 AGP output w/ S-Video to standard CRT television NTSC 4:3
XBMC for Windows 8.10
Windows XP Pro w/ SP3 & updates AUTO
ATI Remote Wonder II w/ drivers v3.04 for XP

It seems that the constant like variable is the Remote Wonder. Any suggestions?

I've had this problem for a long time and I am using a at remote wonder plus also. I know it worked fine in beta 2 but every release since including svns have this problem. Going back to beta 2 always fixes it.

I verify the problem is related to the ATI remote wonder driver. Exiting the driver stops the flicker immediately with xbmc in windowed mode. Restart the driver and the flickers reappears. No need to reboot.

was no flicker till I installed the ATI RW driver.

Try installing an older version of the drivers. Unistall everything remote related, then install from:

I've been having this problem with boxee for a little while now; and tested w/xbmc, same thing. I've done everything under the sun from clean removal of drivers and rivatuner to trying multiple versions of nvidia drivers to eliminating things on the desktop that I thought might be giving an overlay issue such as yahoo widgets, executor, etc.

I'm guessing the removal of ati wonder remote will fix this, but that sucks, as I really like the remote!

What's really interesting is I didn't originally have this flicker problem until recently. 1st build of boxee I tried (0.9.7.xxxx) exhibited no problems such as this...

are those ati remote wonder drivers? if so, which version and why so big? v6.04 from AMD's website are only 6-7MB.

Don't know about the size difference. That's just the setup file on the cd that came with the remote.

Here's a link to what appears to be the drivers, however I haven't had any success with getting them to recognize my ATI Remote Wonder. I'm experiencing the same issue with the flickering, but for whatever reason I can't get the remote to work with any drivers others than the latest (3.04)
