Win HOW-TO setup the original Xbox DVD remote the correct way with EventGhost
candersonosu Wrote:I have been trying to figure this out for quite some time now but continue to get errors as shown in the screen shot.

Do you have the actual Microsoft receiver, or a knock-off?

See this thread for tips:

http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtopi...7&start=15

You may need to change the vendor ID in the python file of the plugin.

(it's just text)

Did you quote me by mistake? as I don't use the XBOX receiver.

Hi! I am new in this forum and I have a problem with the receiver. I have an third-part receiver from Gametech wich has been installed correctly on Windows 7 x64 and I have configured the XBCDRC init.py line in EG so it find my vid and pid. The problem is that I haven't got the remote control for my receiver so I'm using my harmony one. When i start EG it shows that xbcdrc has started and it find my receiver and all, but when i press a button om my harmony nothing happens in EG, it is not receiving my codes.. What am i doing wrong?

Thanks for any replies and sorry for my bad English Wink

Yep, it looks like it was a problem with my XBMCRepeat plugin. I ended up uninstalling everything and starting from scratch and after a few attempts with the XBMCRepeat plugin I got it to work. It may have been a problem with the file location, but not sure. Thanks for the help!

Hi there. Just to make sure;

- Does "xbcdrc_x64.zip" drivers really work on win7_64 with Xbox original IR?
What about signature override etc?
- Is EventGhost still required for IR signals to be delieverd to Xbmc 10 Dharma?

The EventGhost site has changed domain name to eventghost.net
This is the new link for XBMCRepeat

waldo22 Wrote:1) Download and install the remote drivers from RedCl0ud, version 0.28
http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd_rc.html#download

(for x64 drivers click here http://www.acidapple.com/veube/xbcdrc_x64.zip - thanks Veube!!! )

This program will install the "XBCD XBox Remote Control" device, but also leave an unknown "USB device" un-installed.

***note: Many have reported better results (with lag, timing, etc) if you disable the "USB device" that is left un-installed under "Other devices" section of device manager (right-click and disable). This may or may not be silly. Wink

2) Download and install the latest Beta of EventGhost (0.3.7.x or later). It now includes the Xbox DVD Remote Control plugin (thanks to jinxdone and Bartman).
http://www.eventghost.org/downloads/

3) Download the XBMCrepeat plugin (thanks to jonib!)
This sends the actual remote buttons to XBMC, and works exactly like the remote did with the Xbox! Much better than the "official" XBMC plugin.

4) Load EventGhost config. You can use my EventGhost XML config file here:
http://pastebin.com/Mppe2DpC
or here:
http://www.pastebin.ca/2023964
(copy text and save as XBMC.xml, copy file to \program files\EventGhost\ and open in EventGhost)
File -> open -> XBMC.xml

You're done! You should now have a working remote that controls XBMC for Windows with no further tweaking.

1. Not needed, since i have the USB UIRT from the MCE remote?
2. Ok, latest release installed.
3. Where shall i put it? is it only one .py file?
4. Done. Errors.... could not find XBMCrepeat.

You need to create a directory XBMCRepeat in the plugins dir where you installed EventGhost, and then put both "__init__.py" and "xbmcclient.py" files in it, then (re)start EventGhost.

Ok! Thanks a lot!
There were so many posts here, so it was very difficult to keep up with all the different files and folder...

The remote does not work though, is it because i use the USB dongle from the MCE remote kit, is there anything i should do different?

Tnx, but now i have wired up the Microsoft IR Dongle, just to see if it helps.
I have installed the 64bit driver and "signed" them, but EG still complains about not finding the IR Reciever.

I tried to change the vendor id, and the error message disappears, but still no events in the log when pressing buttons on remote control.

I have no experience with the MCE dongle but maybe this thread can help.
