Audio hangs when playing videos
#1
Please help, this is driving me nuts:

Whenever I start playing a video, there is no audio for the first 15-20 seconds. Then, the video slows down and the audio begins playing from the beginning. Once the audio catches up to the video, everything plays smoothly. My navigation sounds are working correctly and play instantly - this only happens with movies/videos. If I pause a movie in the beginning and attempt to adjust the xbmc volume, the system hangs for ~10 seconds and then shows the volume bar adjust. Then, once I unpause it, the audio works fine and plays smoothly. It seems to me that the audio device is taking ~10 - 15 seconds to 'initialize' or something each time I go to play a video.

System:
MB: Asus P5N7A-VM
CPU: 3.0GHz C2D
Mem: 4GB DDR800
XBMC-Live

Notes:

Audio and video are running over HDMI to my LCD TV. I have Alsa 1.0.19 installed to allow audio through the HDMI properly.

I've tried configuring the XBMC audio devices with analog and digital, but it makes no difference (audio still delayed in the beginning - navigation sounds work fine).
