Vista MCE remote - CLLRCMCE
#1
I've HD installed XBMC live on my PC, a few days later i bought a Vista MCE remote for it.
plugged it in, synced the remote. it did what i had to do.. so far so good.

The remote works, but only the up/down/left/right/OK/back buttons.
the rest dont work (like volume).

I've tried messing with keymap.xml, but wasnt able to really figure it out.
also in advancedsettings.xml adding <displayremotecodes> didnt work.
I've tried installing lirc, but wasnt able to get it to install/work.

does anyone have any tips/guids/ideas on how to get this sucker to work ?

PS: here's the specs of the remote, just in case it's important:

Good new and bad news. That is an RF remote not an IR, you will likely need use a /dev/input by-id and setup lirc that way. IT WILL NOT work out of the box with Live and if you are not comfortable in Linux, this is not a beginners task but you could learn here is a link to a site explaining how I got the gyration media center remote to function with Live.

The Bad news is there is a bug in Intrepid 8.10 and the way those devices communicate to hal. There is a workaround for the Gyration models of remotes but I am not sure if that will work with this one. I am including that link as well it is the 2nd one. Read and try the first link before your attemp the 2nd and only attempt the 2nd link if your remote does not work to your satisfaction after completing the first link.

FYI - The file you need to modify after these changes is the /usr/share/xbmc/system/Lircmap.xml not the keymap.xml file. You will likely find it does not need that much editing anyhow only really another remote section added called (the name of your remote)

I read this page about 5 times before I even typed a command to change ANYTHING.
