Fall back to get posters from IMDb when TMDB (TheMovieDB.org) does not have any?
#1
Please move this tread if completly in the wrong forum..

I have now totaly remade my video library. I had an library mixed with info from IMDB, themoviedb.org and .nfo files made from Media Companion.

First, I DONT want to use MC for everything, only some special thing.
I also just want to use .nfo with xml for speciel movies, so I can edit a special name or something like this.

Same same is for TV shows. I would like XBMC to handle the scrape for new movies and for new episodes, and I dont want to edit on my computer first.

I also want XBMC to handle al my thums and posters. This because I after a while remove my episodes and seasons i TV show, but I would like XBMC to keep all the info.

Now to my problem. Ive set TMDB as my default scraper, and that works pretty good. But my problem is that for some older movies, it misses Posters in HQ. XBMC just skips that and creates a screenshot instead?

Is it possible to let XBMC to get a poster from IMBD when it fails to get one from TMDB?

I also wonder, if its possible in an .nfo only add the title and ID for a movie, and that XBMC saves the rest of the info in its database?

TMDB does not fallback to other (non-"free") poster sources by default.

The absolute best thing you can do is to produce posters for those movies and upload them to themoviedb.org so everyone can benefit.

What you're looking for with the .nfo files thing is a mixed nfo XML - you supply some info, and a url, and xbmc will look for the rest online. There's info on this in the manual.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I will try to do some posters then.

But wouldnt be great if there was an option like this:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=IMDB#IMDb_scraper_settings

even for tmdb?

And I cant find any info for mixed nfo XML.

Where can I find it?

Thanks. I have started to find the ones that missing.
http://www.impawards.com/
and
http://www.movieposterdb.com/
also have some, but the last one seems to use credit or something? Isnt it free?

EDIT: How important is it that the size of the posters are 1000x1500 ? I found some nice posters that are only about haft that size. But isnt that better than nothing?
