no audio hdmi network shared mkv's
#1
Hey all,

I'm having an issue with playing MKV files over a network share (windows vista) the video plays, but I get the audio failed to initialise error Sad

MP4's and some AVI's play just fine over the same share, if I copy the mkv over locally it plays fine as well....

my fstab for the mount is CIFS..

this is all over ati 3450 HDMI
Music files play fine. (over the share)

system:
ubuntu mini:9.04 (x86_64)
xbmc svn 9.04 (from 29th)
alsa 1.0.19

any ideas?

Cheers,

Kasper

Very odd issue. Please provide a debug logs for the devs to observe.

This is likely related for the number of channels found in the MKV files (IE: stereo vs. surround 5.1). Information about the media files might be useful as well. MediaInfo is a good open source application that works well for the purposes of finding out this type of information.

Additionally check out this thread for any more information that the devs might find useful.

Sticky: HOW-TO post about a problem in a useful manner

Ok I sorta fixed it... well it works anyway, I selected the downmix multi to stereo option, now the files play fine across the network....

I'm just curious as why some play and some didn't without using that option, but comping them locally worked...... Confusedhrugs:

thanks for the response tho maxim!

Cheers,
