I think I've got a way to refresh your resolution info without having to delete your guisettings.xml file and lose all your settings.
1. Back-up your current guisettings.xml file
2. quit xbmc
3. delete your guisettings file
4. start xbmc and let it create a new guisettings file
5. copy the entire calibration section from the new file
6. replace the calibration section in the backup file with the newly copied section
7. replace the guisettings file with the backup that has the copied over section and restart xbmc
it works for me. hopefully it will for you too.
