[RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!)
Hi.

I'm using, or trying to use the iplayer plugin, version 2.3.2 on windows.

I'm outside the uk so i'm using ProxyCap with the instructions provided on this thread.

ProxyCap seems to be working fine but when I try to load a video on the iplayer plug-in a dialogue box comes up saying; "Loading", then "Playing" and then nothing happens.

Here's the log:

Any ideas?

4od and demand five distribute a lot of their stuff via youtube so this should do away with the need, for the most part, for a plugin for these two channels (althougth the demand five content is limited)

You didnt read the bold text on the iplayer page. your xbmc is way too old. Please get a dharma build.
Thanks for the info. I missed that because the link skipped right to the download page.

I've downloaded Dharma_rcl assuming it the most up to date release?

I cant seem to get the iplayer app working at all now. I just get "Error: Script Failed"

I installed the iplayer using the "Install from zip" option.

Where am I going wrong?

On the same page as the warning about what versions, it has text on how to install it - I really think it's quite clear (http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/) but perhaps not! :/ you need to unpack to addons, and rename the folder from IPlayer to plugin.video.iplayer. or for more ease you can use hitchers repo (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Uno...positories)

Thanks for the reply, This kinda works fine although I cant seem to search for things properly. Some things aren't on there that are on the 4OD site. However a good sustitute where available!
For a while now I've had a problem the iPlayer plugin works beautifully on my lap Mac laptop, but not on my PPC G5 Mac.
I've sat the two machines side by side and checked all the settings, they are all the same. The only difference is that the PPC version does not have a setting for hardware acceleration. I've tried changing the video stream, nothing, The really frustrating thing is that it shows all the directories, says it's loading, then nothing until I get the "One or two items failed to play" error message. I'd find it easier to understand if it simply refused to work altogether. I'm now running Dharma rc2, on Snow Leopard, but the problem pre-dates this installation. From reading through the forum I know that there at least two other people having exactly the same problem, and have been in touch with one of them directly to confirm that, yes, it is exactly the same. I'm perfectly prepared to believe that I've made some sort of fundamental error, but if so then I have no idea as to where. Whilst not a techie I'm not a complete ignoramus and can usually sort problems out, albeit with help from on-line resources. This, however, has got me beaten and I'm starting to crack. So, for the sake of my mental health and possibly my marriage, can anyone shed any light for me?

I am in the UK, so it's shouldn't be a proxy issue

Many many thanks in advance

Mr Grumpy (Roger Hargreaves? Smile ),

I'd love to help. I had a brief look at your log. the first thing that would help me would be to have a full log. from launch to exit, including the problem. There is a lot of information there that can be useful for debugging, not only what you might think is relevant. If I can't help it might be a issue with xbmc on your platform, so this needs to be looked into. all links back to the full log really.

Cheers.
Many thanks for the rapid reply.

That'll teach me not to check things properly before I post, I hadn't realised that what I'd linked to bore so little relevance to the problem. I've checked this and it's all to do with launching the iPlayer add-on.

No, not Roger Hargreaves, just how my nearest and dearest seem to think of me, no idea why.
your build has no rtmp support. needs to be built with librtmp support for iplayer plugin.

It's what I downloaded and installed from the XBMC site. Anything I can do myself or is it a platform issue?

xbmc-r35567-Dharma_rc2-ppc.dmg 02-Dec-2010 23:50 43M

Once again, many thanks for your help
Can't answer that really. If it is a build by xbmc developers, then you will have to take it up with them. Perhaps opening up a trac bug report http://trac.xbmc.org
OK have submitted a bug report. Once again many thanks for taking the trouble to help.
i've noticed some programmes dont have all the streams. it just fails, i noticed changing to another bitrate worked. maybe a popup menu to try other streams would be nice?
not sure how common this is, only noticed because i have my HD system set to 1500 and SD to 800, the 1500 worked other didn't (on other programmes both work).
whether you offer all streams, ones below the maximum, or ones that are detected as present somehow i'm not sure.
both Xboxes if that matters.

thanks, this plugin is still #1 use of our XBMC systems Smile

currently it looks for lower bitrate ones. the plugin probably needs some work in this area regarding support more stream sources and rates. im rather busy right now mind. Happy to receive any patches.
