[RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!)
Please turn on debug logging, post the entire log rather than a snippet (not enough information there). I also recommend you try using http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/issues/list instead of here, as it's more likely I will notice it (although you might get help from other users here). Thanks.

SystemError: Error: Window is NULL, this is not possible :-)

Please see my post two posts above your own for the solution.
"Enhanced Debug Output" is already enabled exobuzz mate. I've simply copied all the test in the xbmc.log file and pasted it. Is there another logfile located somewhere?
You only posted 62 lines of log. I need the whole log file from the moment you launch xbmc to after the problem occurs. there should be more text than this in xbmc.log
my apologies mate,

for some reason pastebin is only showing some lines. I've attached the full xbmc.log to:-

Code:
http://justpaste.it/3pu

Oh just FYI, youtube and Apple trailers work fine.
You need a much more recent version of xbmc for use with iplayer. try http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/ - you will also need to rename the plugin if you downloaded it from the google site so it can work as an addon (a new system replacing the plugins on the old version) - see the install.txt in the plugin zip, or add "hitchers" repository that includes a version ready to go.
thanks, thats what I was looking for Smile
thanks exobuzz.

I removed old xbmc and reinstalled the latest r32477 version. I also downloaded iplayer v2.1 from google.code and renamed it's folder to plugin.video.iplayer and copied the folder to the addons directory.

The good news is that iplayer works, but only for live video. But the bad news is it gives errors that the plugin plugin.video.iplayer has failed and also none of the catchup videos such as Eastenders work.

Here is the log:-

Code:
http://justpaste.it/3pv
pls ignore the above issue as i have found the problem, thanks to exobuzz's post #881 here:-

@ exobuzz - hope we can find a proper solution to this issue mate...thanks again Big Grin
OK once more with feeling.

DOES THIS PLUG IN WORK WITH OSX? All I get is script error when launching it.

The addon works on my mac.

You will need to compile xbmc with rtmp support enabled to be able to use the iplayer addon on OSX.
now that i have the plugin working, i'm trying to automate my way out of a small annoyance.

I want to run a script that checks my location and connects to my vpn if not at home. The script to check my ip to determine location and start the vpn if ip doesn't match is done, but i still have to run it manually.

what would be the best way to get this automated?
a keyboard shortcut to run the script and move to iplayer in the gui seems to be possible (ActivateWindow(24,plugin://video/IPlayer/?tvradio=tv)&XBMC.RunScript(vpntoggle.sh])

However i can't seem to combine the two, also this wouldn't disconnect my tunnel when i'm done, so i'd need another shortcut.

Surely it's possible to run a script when navigating to the iplayer.plugin and launch another when navigation away from it in the gui? Could someone please give me a pointer on this?

That would be great.
Trying to troll through 89 pages to find out why iPlayer isn't working in XBMC is a real bug#er.
I am using iPlayer v2.1, XBMC Live 9.11 Installed plugin via the SVN Repo installer version 1.8.3 .Can't give you much more as the kids are watching Cbeebies via the BBC iPlayer site on Firefox.
And where is the log file stored so I can post it here.

More info.
XBMC 9.11 R26018 Compiled Dec 24 2009
Operating system LINUX 2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 8 0...
just tried a catch up prog which was the latest Click. It looked like it was loading but it didn't play. Tried it again and I got "One or more items failed to play. Check the log file for details"
I get thumbnails displayed for all cacthup progs.
For radio 1's essential mix I get "Can't locate radio stream"
If you can't fix it with a hammer you have an electrical problem.
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Log_File - it comes up with the google search for "xbmc log file" - useful things search engines - http://lmgtfy.com/?q=xbmc+log+file

please us something like pastebin for hosting the logfile.

the iplayer plugin has a site on google code where you can submit bug reports/issues (with a log file), so you dont need to read the entire thread.

http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/
/home/<username>/.xbmc/temp/ can't find it, is this directory path hidden.
When I ls /home/<username>
I don't get .xmbc up at all. Just a couple of directories I created when I got openvpn to work.
So hence my question where is it.
