Linux HOW-TO setup a working configuration for the MS Xbox 360 Universal & Media Remote
#16
Thanks for the tutorial! post 7 worked great for me, as well. Although i find navigation to be slightly cumbersome, from coming from using my xbox mediacenter extender. No biggy.

one question, how could i map one of the buttons to bring up the usual right click menu?

im thinking it could be something useful for the big X button to do. just a thought.

Hey,

Just wanted to say cheers for the config FishOil.

Got my Xbox360 Universal working straight away with a Scaleo E's built in IR receiver.
Copy, paste, restart, smiley face! Big Grin

Thanks again, saved a whole heap of work!

If you promise not to make fun of my scripting skills (lack of) Smile

This is a bash script and it must be run as root.

when asked type in the name of your xbmc user

It will create 4 files and back them up if they already exist.

/etc/lirc/hardware.conf
/etc/lirc/lircd.conf
/home/"$user"/.xbmc/userdata/Lircmap.xml
/home/"$user"/.xbmc/userdata/keymaps/remote.xml

reboot and this wonderful remote should be working

Cant beat $16
