[OLD] HOW-TO watch Live TV in XBMC for Linux with Tvheadend, the easy way!
I'll make the addon less verbose later.

edit:
removed the log entries for demux packets in the development version. will backport it to the dharma-pvr branch later.

That would be perfect. The log shouldent wright everything in the future I think. When you fore example play a movie ore tvshow it dont log anything exept when something fails.
I am using tvheadend now but i got very choppy picture on some of my channels. How can i see how good signal i have from my tv-network?. I wonder if a RF amplifier could help.
go to the tvheadend web interface and go to configuration -> tv adapters and select your adapter. enable "monitor signal quality", click save and go to the multiplexes tab. could take a bit of time till all muxes are updated.

Thanks. I have bad signal on few of them.
Question
ASRock ION330HT setup from XBMC Live (XBMC Freak version 9.11.14). In the meantime upgraded to Dharma.
Live TV support via ppa:lars-opdenkamp/xbmc-pvr with TVheadend and USB-DVBS2 device Tevii S660

Folks,

I have Live TV in the above combination working however I have to boot twice.

When I power up all devices the first time XBMC (tvheadend) tells me "no device present".
When I power cycle XBMC (leaving the Tevii with power!) it comes up properly.

I captured an "uname -a", "lsusb", "dmesg | grep usb" output into two files to compare the differences. Here it is:
Code:
xbox@XIon:~$ diff Tev1.txt Tev2.txt

I spot the message "MAC address reading failed" during the first boot sequence, but have neither an idea why this happens nor how to overcome this.

While working on my Sheevaplug Debian system I ran across the following blog entry, but I don't think my device is as spoiled as this?!
why wouldn't it show the same behaviour as the one on the page you linked? it is the same device, isn't it?

I've installed tvheadend as a replacement to mythtv and I must say dushmaniac had done a sterling job, it really come along way in the last few months.

I have really quick channel changes, smooth playback, superb quality!
I have modifeld the keymapping to suit my needs and I'm really enjoying it.
A couple of things I'm not sure on:

I can't cancel timers.

I can't properly delete recordings from within xbmc

Pause, rewind live tv not working.

Any way to schedule season pass or multiple recordings from within xbmc.

Search from within xbmc. Find similar works but not direct searches.

Using the tvheadend webserver from an ipad is difficult as the drop down boxes can't be scrolled.

All in all it's very useable now and I am actually concidering switching to use it full time.

I can't believe how well remote frontend stream and how fast the channel changes are!

Thanks to everyone who works on the pvr stuff, it's really coming to fruition now and looks very promising for the future.

If anyone can offer advice to my above points I would appreciate it.

IMO not exactly!? As I read his blog his devices' FW got erased and "ever since the device was not being recognized as 'tevii s660' anymore but only its basic circuit board "EZ-USB""

Mine still shows the proper device id and product id, also during the first boot sequence. But TVHeadend doesn't seem to find it until the next reboot.

1) if you mean while recording yeah I found that too but delete does work from the context menu
2) Thats a tvheadend issue because it wont let you delete the files just the timer for the file
3) Live Tv pause not in XBMC yet
4) Not yet

Hi dushmaniac,
dushmaniac Wrote:like I said in my previous post, I'll make a new howto post that explains it all properly. didn't have time for it today, so I'll do it tomorrow.

all it takes to install tvheadend + xbmc is installing 2 packages from a ppa and a few actions to do the initial setup.
Did you get a chance to create new HOWTO. (no pushing)
Thanks
Hi

Is the xbmc-pvr branch still working with the newest version of tvheadend v2.12? - I can't seem to get a connection.

Thanks

Hi

Is NDS CAID 09f0 not supported by the CWC?

I also have some channels on Conax CAID : 0B00 that are not working, it shows the first frame and the freezes

cwc: Obtained key for for service xxxxx is present in the log

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I can delete timers from the context menu like you say, I think i may remap the windows mce keys to work a little more logically when using the pvr section.

I went on the HTS irc channel to ask about touch support for the webserver but i havent seen anyone in there yet to ask.

I have been testing skins for the pvr branch, namely conflunce and Slik.

do you intend on doing anymore work on the confluence skin?

It would be amazing if you could use the genre style from slik in confluence. you know the thin bar of colour in the guide grid rather than the whole segment coloured.

Thanks,
