I have tried to open a kar file. I followed the instruction in the wiki http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO:_Setu...I_playback. I open the log file this is the error

It said that the file not found. but i tried to double check the directory definitely the file exist.
I am running Ubuntu Linux (Intrepid) and svn compiled 9.04.1.0.20844

is this a bug? or am i missing something? Hope somebody can help me.

take out the " - " in the name to see if something is not delimiting the spaces properly.

I tried to change the extension filename to KAR or Kar but problem still there. maybe somebody can give me some tips

Hey Chris,

I had the same problem. I am using ubuntu and installed PyKaraoke and it plays the .kar files. Then noticed that they are nowhere near the .mp3+cdg files in quality. The .kar files is just like a keyboard (midi file) and the .mp3+cdg files is close to the real song. Just wanted to warn you if you havent heard them and wanted to save you alot of time, if you dont end up liking the .kar files. If you decide to go with the .mp3+cdg, look for sunfly. They seem to be pretty good.

Is your name also chris ? anyways, yes its more better quality. but the problem of mp3+cdg is you can not put background like picture and movie.

I fixed the bug in timidity some time ago, when MIDI files in /home/user cannot be played (because Timidity replaced the path with ~).
