DVD5 verses DVD9 backup quality?

What format do you rip your DVDs. Is the quality that much better for DVD 9 to warrant the extra file size?

If you do not want a compression or quality decrease most rip to iso or img. These will not compress the data unless you tell it to.

As far as DVD9 vs DVD5 this depends on what the source is. Some DVDs are DVD5 (single layer) from the store. some DVD9s from the store have all teh extra crap taken out and contain just the movie. Sometimes that can fit on a DVD5 without compression. So you really will not get a straight answer on this.

Also quality is different to everyone and the equiptment they are wating on. the bigger the display the more you will see the lower quality.
